Mumbai: A major fire broke out in the seventh floor-based flat of a building, situated in Tilak Chowk area in Mumbai’s Kalyan on Saturday evening. No casualties have been reported so far.
The flat belongs to a businessman Ramesh Jain and is located in the Sapphire building in Kalyan. The blaze rapidly spread to the sixth-floor-based flat. All the residents were safely rescued before the fire could spread further.
The Kalyan fire brigade team is trying to control the fire. The reason behind the fire is yet unknown.
The fire officials said no one was inside the flat when the fire took place and after noticing the flames from the flat, the neighbours informed their team.
Earlier in the evening today, a major fire broke out at Bahang in Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. At least three sheds of labourers were gutted in the fire. In a similar incident, at least four houses were gutted in fire and several of them were partially damaged in Himachal Pradesh’s tribal district Kinnaur. No one was hurt in the incident.
Property worth Rs 1.81 crore was destroyed in the fire, the exact cause of which is yet to be ascertained.
