Mumbai: A Borivali resident slit his mother’s throat with a paper cutter and sat with her body for over seven hours before surrendering in front of the police on Thursday, November 29. The accused, identified as Yogesh Shenoy, killed his 80-year-old mother because of constant fights with her due to financial stress, a report suggested. “The murder took place because of the constant fights with his mother and due to her medical fees, which he was unable to manage,” Senior police inspector of MHB Colony police station Pandit Thakare told Hindustan Times. The 53-year-old left his job as an accountant at a hotel, two months ago, to take care of his ailing mother Lalita, who was a blood pressure and spondylosis patient. Shenoy, in his confession to the police, revealed that he tried to kill his mother two times before he actually succeeded. In the first attempt at around 2 AM, he fed the elderly a high dosage of sleeping pills. In the second attempt, he smothered her with a pillow. After she survived both the murder attempts on her, the man slit her throat with a paper cutter and waited till morning to handover himself to the police.
