Mumbai: A man was arrested by the Mumbai police for stealing a mobile phone during his own wedding celebration party. The groom was nabbed on Tuesday along with a friend after a complaint in connection with the matter was lodged by a woman at Tilak Nagar police station.

Identified as Ajay Sunil Dhote, the groom reportedly came on a bike with a friend and snatched the mobile phone from a woman, who was with her daughter in Amar Mahal junction in Chembur.

During investigation, the police did not get any major help from the CCTV camera footage as the accused had covered the number plate of the motorbike, used in the crime.

After following leads, the police reached Dhote’s residence in Shivaji Nagar to arrest him. However, they were greeted by a wedding celebration party of the accused, himself. As per a report in Hindustan Times, Dhote had tied the knot earlier in the day in Bandra court.

Acting swiftly, the police arrested Dhote. His friend and accomplice Altaf Mirza was also sent behind the bars.
