Mumbai Mega Block Latest News: The Mumbai Local Train operation on Central Line, Harbour Line and Western Line will remain affected for at least five hours on Sunday, March 17. In a bid to avoid inconvenience, the passengers are advised to check the Mumbai Local Train schedule before stepping outside of their homes. As per Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the services of local trains will be hit on Central Line and Harbour Line for around four hours and Western Line for over five hours.
Central Line Mega Block
The Mumbai mega block on Central Line will affect local train services between Matunga and Mulund on Down Slow Line from 11.30 AM to 3.30 PM on March 17. In the view of the same, Mumbai Local trains on Down Slow Line leaving Matunga from 11.25 AM to 3.21 PM will be diverted to Down fast line between Matunga and Mulund stations. These trains will halt at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund stations and further re-diverted to Down Slow Line at Mulund station.
Further, the Mumbai local train services on Down Slow Line will not be available at Vidyavihar, Kanjur Marg and Nahur Stations. However, passengers of these stations will be allowed to travel via Ghatkopar, Bhandup and Mulund stations.
The Up fast/semi fast Mumbai local trains leaving Kalyan from 10.54 AM to 3.06 PM will halt at Diva, Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts. These trains will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.
The Down fast/semi fast local trains leaving CSMT between 10.48 AM to 3.40 PM will halt at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund and Diva stations in addition to their respective scheduled halts and arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule.
Additionally, all Down and Up slow services leaving/arriving CSMT between 11.00 AM and 5.00 PM will arrive destination 10 minutes behind schedule.
Harbour Line Mega Block
The Mumbai mega block on Harbour line will affect the local train services on Kurla-Vashi Up and Down service between 11.10 AM and 3.40 PM. During the block period, all Down Harbour line services departing from CSMT Mumbai to Vashi / Belapur / Panvel from 10.34 AM to 3.08 PM and all Up Harbour line services departing from Panvel / Belapur / Vashi towards CSMT from 10.21 AM to 3.00 PM will remain cancelled.
However, special services will be made operational during the block period on Panvel-Vashi and Kurla-CSMT sections. Furthermore, the passengers on Harbour line will be permitted to travel via main line and Trans harbour line from 10.00 AM to 4.30 PM.
Western Line Mega Block
The Mumbai local train services on Western line are to remain affected between 10.35 AM to 3.35 PM between Borivali and Goregaon stations in the wake of a Jumbo Block on March 17. During the block period, all Up and Down slow line local trains will run on Up and Down fast lines between the two stations. Due to this, services of some local trains stand cancelled.
Within the period of the Jumbo Block, no trains will run from Platform number 1, 2, 3 and 4 at Borivali station. Due to this, the sub-urban trains would witness heavy crowd.
The Central Railway and Western Railway carry out mega block and jumbo block almost on every Sunday to maintain the infrastructure and safety.
