A body of an unidentified woman was discovered stuffed in two bags near the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, police reported on Tuesday. Workers cleaning the Shirgaon Phata area on Monday found the corpse and immediately informed the authorities, according to an official from the Talegaon Dabhade police station.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim may have been murdered at least two days prior, as the body showed signs of decomposition. The woman, believed to be in her mid to late 30s, has yet to be identified. Officials noted that no evidence was found at the scene to confirm her identity.
The body was placed in gunny bags and abandoned in the bushes along the expressway. A case has been registered against unknown individuals, and the remains have been sent for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Further inquiries have led police to identify the woman’s village. Her husband, who is accused of the murder, is currently missing, having fled from his home.
Earlier today, the body of a 22-year-old man who had been missing for two days was discovered hanging from a tree in Navi Mumbai, according to police reports. The body was found on the road leading to Parsik Hill, and authorities were immediately notified, an official stated.
This tragic incident comes shortly after a similar case in Uttar Pradesh, where the body of an unidentified woman in her mid-30s was found stuffed inside a suitcase near the NH-9 Highway in Hapur earlier this month.
The suitcase was spotted by local pedestrians, who noticed it abandoned on the highway and alerted the police. The location was near ATMS College, within the jurisdiction of Hapur Kotwali police station.
