New Delhi: A software engineer of Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from a woman. Police have registered a case of extortion and sexual act against the accused. The accused identified as Saurabh Kumar (24) was held from his office on Saki Vihar Road based on a complaint filed by the 21-year-old woman. According to the complainant, police said that the accused had befriended the woman through social media in 2016. During the course of time, the due got closer and the woman shared her photos with him. Kumar used to visit the woman in Jharkhand and recorded their sexual acts. The woman lodged a complaint after she learned from friends that her sexual act has been posted on social media. Kumar had used a fake identity to upload the photo. The woman lodged a case in cyber cell and police then start an investigation.
Police have got a transit remand of Kumar after he was produced before a court in Bandra. Accused has been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt to commit extortion) and under Information Technology Act.
