Mumbai, June 26: Two youth drowned in Mumbai’s Juhu beach on Sunday during a high tide in the Arabian Sea. A group of friends from Vile Parle went to the beach to have a fun time. However, the day ended tragically for them when two of their friends, Abhishek Madhav (22) and Ankur Vedkar (17) drowned at Juhu beach. One of the boys, Abhishek has been rescued, while search operations for the other boy were going on until the night. A fire brigade said, “The incident occurred at Juhu Koliwada near the new jetty, away from Juhu beach where lifeguards are posted.” A police officer informs, “It has been learned that there was a group of five to six friends who had come to the beach and two of them were pulled into the currents after they entered the water,” reported Midday. The fire brigade informed that they got a call about two boys drowned into the Juhu beach. When they reached the spot, the locals and the police informed them that two youth have drowned in the sea. They managed to pull out Abhishek from the sea. They immediately sent him to Cooper Hospital. However, they didn’t find Ankur even after searching out for him for the entire night. Due to continuous rainfall in Mumbai, yesterday there was a high tide at around 1.03 pm. Also, it has been raining continuously in the city since Saturday night. The weather forecast has predicted heavy rainfalls in the city for next 24 hours.
