CBSE Board Results 2022: As Students Wait For CBSE, ICSE 12th Results, Mumbai University Starts UG Admissions
Mumbai, Oct 25: University of Mumbai Vice-Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh was sacked by the Governor and Chancellor of the University, CH. Vidyasagar Rao allegedly for his negligence and delay in announcement of examination results. A statement by the Raj Bhawan on Tuesday announced this and listed the reasons for the sacking.

The statement said that Deshmukh was fired for his ‘gross negligence’ and ‘failure’ in implementing the On-Screen Marking system and declaring the results of the examinations which were held in summer this year. It also claimed that the VC failed to comply with the Chancellor’s continuous directions regarding timely declaration of results.
“Today, the Governor and Chancellor of University of Mumbai CH. Vidyasagar Rao, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Section 11(14)(e) of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 removed Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh from the office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Mumbai for his gross negligence and failure in implementing the On-Screen Marking system, to declare the results of examinations held in Summer-2017 within the time limit prescribed in the Act and for his failure to comply with the directions issued by the Chancellor from time to time, regarding early declaration of results,” a statement by the Raj Bhavan read.
Noteworthy that the delay in result declaration of of over four lakh Mumbai University students had also irked students and a call for Deshmukh’s resignation gained momentum, which eventually led to this decision of the Governor.
