New Delhi, June 25: In yet another shocking incident, a Mumbai-based woman journalist has claimed that she was assaulted and abused by a female co-passenger with whom she was sharing a ride in Uber cab. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the woman narrated her ordeal. The victim identified as Ushnota Paul alleged that her fellow passenger was firm on being dropped first as she had paid more for the ride and when she (Paul) intervened the woman verbally abused her. “I had the worst experience today morning. Was Uber pooling with a woman who was hostile from the very start. She started yelling at the driver saying she’s paying the “most” and still she’s getting dropped last. When I tried to intervene I was verbally abused,” Paul tweeted. Furthermore she wrote,“I tried to click her picture and she immediately snatched it away from me and threatened to break it. I know she would’ve so I didn’t try clicking anymore. Before she got down from the cab, she physically attacked me, grabbed me by my hair, tore off clumps of hair, scratched my face.”

Meanwhile an FIR has been registered against the assaulter. Terming the incident ‘deeply upsetting’, an Uber spokesperson said that they are ready to cooperate with Mumbai police for investigation.

“What’s been described today is deeply upsetting and is completely against our community guidelines. The co-rider in question cannot access the app. We’ve reached out to law enforcement authorities to offer any information that could be helpful in their proceedings. We stand ready to support their investigation into this incident,” Indian Express quoted the spokesperson as saying.

Notably the incident came nearly a month after a woman alleged that she was molested inside a moving cab.The victim had accused the driver of touching her inappropriately.
