New Delhi, August 14: A day ahead of India’s 72nd Independence Day, Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station has been brightly lit in tricolour. After a long struggle, India gained independence from the British rule on August 15, 1947. President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the nation saying, “15 August is sacred for every Indian. Our tricolour is a representation of our nation. Independence of India was a result of the sacrifice of freedom fighters and ancestors.” The President also gloried the ‘tricolor’ of the Indian flag as a symbol of national pride and a reminder of the people’s self-belief, struggles and achievements. Earlier, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), also known as Victoria Terminus (VT) observed the Earth Hour by switching off all the lights in an attempt to spread the message of saving electricity.



Similar to the Mumbai, all the other states across the nation are ready to celebrate the nation’s 72nd Independence Day. 

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in states like Jammu and Kashmir and the National Capital Region in order to maintain peace tomorrow.
