Mumbai’s First Underground Metro Line To Launch on July 24: Check Stations, Timings, Visuals

Mumbai’s first underground Metro rail corridor, known as Metro Line 3, will start operating from July 24, Bharatiya Janata Party’s general secretary Vinod Tawde said on Wednesday. 

The 33.5 km line will run from Aarey Colony to Cuffe Parade and will have 27 stops. It will transform urban transit in Mumbai and make travel easier and help to reduce traffic congestion.

Total 27 stations, 26 are underground.

Cuffe Parade, Vidhan Bhavan, Churchgate, Hutatma Chowk, CST Metro, Kalabadevi, Girgaon, Grant Road, Mumbai Central Metro, Mahalaxmi, Science Museum, Acharya Atre Chowk, Worli, Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Sitaladevi, Dharavi, BKC, Vidyanagari, Santacruz, Domestic Airport, Sahar Road, International Airport, Marol Naka, MIDC, SEEPZ, Aarey Depot.

Mumbai Underground Metro Train Timings

Metro on this line will start at 6:30 am and continue till 11:00 pm. Commuters can catch a train within every few minutes. Trains will run at speeds of up to 90 km per hour.

A 35 km journey on the line will take 50 minutes. Travelling for the same route on Mumbai streets by road during peak hours of rush takes more time.

Mumbai Underground Metro Test

Last month, Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) successfully completed the trials of rolling stock for the underground Mumbai Metro Line 3.

The Metro Line 3 project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the total project cost, revised to Rs 37,276 crore as approved by the Union government in February this year, includes a JICA loan of Rs 21,280 crore.

Vinod Tawde Post On X

He made a post on X. Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as Mumbai Metro Aqua Line or Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Line, is a 33.5 km underground route that will connect south Mumbai to the city’s western suburbs and is expected to reduce the burden on the suburban locals.

“Mumbai’s first underground metro (Aqua Line) is starting from July 24, which will give new impetus to the speed of the city,” Tawde said in his post.
