New Delhi: A youth was beaten up in western Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, allegedly by BJP and Bajrang Dal workers for criticising Narendra Modi-led government over the lack of jobs in India on a news channel. They also declared him a ‘terrorist’ as his his views on development did not go down well with them.
According to a reports, the victim identified as Adnan was strolling in a park when a journalist approached him, asking his views on the government. Soon, the recording was interrupted after the saffron-clad men pounced on him and thrashed him brutally.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Reacting over the incident, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said,”BJP workers know that they cannot defend Modi’s development track record. So the only thing they can do is call someone an ‘aatankwaadi’ (terrorist) and beat them up.”
The shocking incident comes a day after two Kashmiri dry fruit sellers were assaulted by a group of saffron-clad men in broad daylight in Lucknow on Wednesday. While one of them escaped after some heckling and beating, the other can be seen cornered by the two men, who constantly berate him for being a Kashmiri. “Why are you hitting him?”, asks a passerby in the video, to which one of the attackers responds with, “He’s a Kashmiri.”
Lucknow police arrested four persons in connection with the case. An FIR was lodged at Hasangaj police station under various sections of the IPC, including 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 307 (attempt to murder), and the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, a police official said.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said the assault in Lucknow hurt the idea of India. “Nothing will do more damage to the idea of India in J&K than videos like these. Keep thrashing Kashmiris like this on the streets at the hands of RSS/Bajrang Dal goons & then try to sell the idea of ‘atoot ang’ (integral part), it simply won’t fly,” he said in a series of tweets.
“Dear PM @narendramodi Sahib, this is what you had spoken against & yet it continues unabated. This is the state governed by your handpicked Chief Minister. Can we expect action in this case or do we file your concern & assurances as a jumla, meant to placate but nothing more?” he asked.
Abdullah also posed a question to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who represents the Lucknow seat in Lok Sabha, that if he would step in to deliver the justice in this case. “Jenab @rajnathsingh Sahib. You represent this constituency in the Lok Sabha, this is the constituency where Vajpayee Sb was elected from & went on to be PM. If no one else will step in & deliver justice can we expect you to punish those guilty of this assault?” he added.
