New Delhi, Aug 13: At least three cops have been suspended at the Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Jail where Muzaffarpur shelter home accused Brajesh Thakur is currently lodged. This incident comes to light after a list consisting mobile numbers of at least 40 people were seized on Saturday by a team of cops while they were out on a surprise check at the prison.
Names of some powerful people, including a minister, were written on a two-page list was recovered from Thakur during the search.
Thakur was arrested on June 2 and has not yet been interrogated by the police because he was immediately sent to jail by the judge. Although Thakur has been in custody for a total of 70 days, he has spent only five days in the central jail’s cell.
The police said, “He has been staying in the medical ward of the jail on health grounds and managed to avoid staying in the prisoners’ ward.” Meanwhile, Thakur’s son, who was detained by the CBI on Saturday, was released on Sunday after questioning.
The Patna High Court is monitoring the ongoing CBI investigation into the case. Earlier, a watchman of the Madhubani shelter home was arrested in relation with the case.
