New Delhi, June 16: Aurangzeb’s father Mohd Hanif on Saturday requested the central and state governments to eliminate militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to news agency ANI, the soldier’s father said, “My son has abided by his pledge, he has kept his promise. He sacrificed himself for the nation and came back to me. I request the central and state govts to eliminate militancy.”

Meanwhile, a huge crowd gathered as mortal remains of Rifleman Aurangzeb were brought to his native village in Poonch for his last rites. Aurangzeb was abducted and killed by militants in Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, June 15.

His body was found in Pulwama district. The soldier, who belonged to 44 Rashtriya Rifles, had boarded a private vehicle to reach Shopian where from he was supposed to go to his home in Rajouri district for Eid celebrations. When their vehicle reached Kalampora, a few terrorists stopped the vehicle and kidnapped him.

The Indian Army on Friday paid floral tribute to rifleman Aurangzeb. “Aurangzeb sustained multiple bullet injuries in a dastardly act wherein he was kidnapped and killed by the terrorists in Gasu village of Pulwama enroute his home on leave to celebrate Eid with his family, the official said.

Hailing from village Salani in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, 24-year-old Aurangzeb joined the Army in 2012. He is survived by his wife, parents and three brothers, the official said.

The terrorists on Friday released a video of them interrogating him over his postings and operations he was part of. In the video, which was shot in a forest-like area in Jammu and Kashmir just before he was martyred, the terrorists could be heard asking him if was involved in the encounter of Mohammed, Wasim and Talha’s encounter.
