Mysuru (Karnataka): The Mysuru, Shimoga and Tumkur Mahanagara Palike or Municipal Corporation Election Results 2018 in Karnataka Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) has been declared. The counting of the votes began at 8 AM and the BJP has emerged as the single largest party in all the three mahanagara palike.
The main contenders in the Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru Mahanagara Palike in Karnataka Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls were the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S). While the Congress has contested 135 candidates in the three city corporations, BJP had 130 and 129 from JD-S. The election results to Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru Mahanagara Palike will be announced today.
The election to 105 Urban Local Bodies including three Mahanagara Palike across Karnataka held from 7 AM to 5 PM registered 63.8 per cent voting, the State Election Commission (SEC) said on Friday. Polling took place peacefully across the 2,662 wards of the state, spread over 29 city municipalities, 53 town municipalities and 23 town panchayats and in 135 wards of the three city corporations (Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru Mahanagara Palike), an election official said.
The polling was held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). In the Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru Mahanagara Palike, a total of 13.33 lakh voters were registered to vote.
