Nagpur, Aug 14: At least three girls were killed after getting hit by a crane near Ambazari T-point police station in Nagpur’s Bajaj Nagar on Tuesday. The girls have been identified as Ruchika Vijay Borikar, Vismriti Rajesh Banwari, and Sneha Vijay Ambadkar and were students of LAD College. The tragic incident took place when the three girls who were riding a scooter hit a crane engaged in Metro rail works. All of them were rushed to the nearby Wockhardt Hospital but were declared dead. While two of them were declared dead upon arrival itself the other succumbed to injuries during treatment. It is not known yet as to how the accident took place and where were the girls headed to. As per reports, the crane was being reversed and it suddenly turned up leaving the girls riding the scooter little time to apply the brakes and stop the vehicle which ultimately led to the accident. Another report suggested that girls lost control of their scooter and rammed into the machine. The bodies of all the three girls have been sent for postmortem. Metro Rail PRO Kokate – Administrative has said that an investigation is underway and CCTV cameras installed at the spot were being checked to ascertain the exact cause behind the accident. Meanwhile, the driver of the crane has been taken into custody and strict action will be taken if found guilty. The police are also looking into the matter.
