New Delhi, April 26: Narela, Bakhtawarpur, Alipur, Holambi Khurd and Bankner wards of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation comes under the Narela assembly constituency. Narela along with its neighbouring wards lie on the fringes of Delhi and consists of the rural population along with resettlement colonies. The area is still grappling with the issues of connectivity from the rest of Delhi. However, the pressure is likely to ease soon with the opening up of the third phase of Delhi metro. Early trends indicated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to lead in all the three Municipal Corporations.
While the Narela has been reserved for women candidates, Holambi Khurd has been reserved for women candidates belonging to Scheduled castes.
In the civic polls of 2012, BJP won the two seats while Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party won one seat each. As far as North Delhi Municipal Corporation is concerned, BJP swept the elections by winning 59 out 104 wards leaving behind on the second spot. Congress secured victory on 29 wards.

C-Voter exit poll predicted that in North Delhi Municipal Corporations the Aam Aadmi Party is on the third number. The Exit Poll said BJP will win this zone with 88 seats, AAP – 6 seats, Congress – 7 seats, Others – 3 seats.
