Narendra Modi Cabinet Reshuffle: List of Nine Ministers to Take Oath at 10.30 AM Today

New Delhi, Sept 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to reshuffle his Cabinet on Sunday. He will be meeting the new ministers at 9 am. President Ram Nath Kovind will administer oath of secrecy to the nine new ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhawan at 10.30 am on Sunday. This is likely the last reshuffle of the Modi Cabinet before 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

  • Since Thursday, over six ministers have resigned including Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Uma Bharti among others.

The nine who are slated to be inducted today include Hardeep Singh Puri (ex-diplomat), RK Singh (Lok Sabha MP from Arrah, Bihar), Shiv Pratap Shukla (Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh), Alphons Kannanthanam (ex-bureaucrat), Satyapal Singh (Lok Sabha MP from Baghpat), Ashwini Kumar Choubey (Lok Sabha MP from Buxar, Bihar), Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Lok Sabha MP from Jodhpur), Anant Kumar Dattatreya Hegde (Lok Sabha MP from Uttara Kannada) and Virendra Kumar (Lok Sabha MP from Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh). Notably four out of these nine minister are former bureaucrats.

Reports also say that Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi are likely to be promoted and they might get Cabinet rank.

Since Thursday, over six ministers have resigned, making way for new faces in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ministries.  Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Faggan Singh Kulaste, Sanjeev Balyan, Kalraj Mishra, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Uma Bharti and Bandaru Dattatreya have resigned in the last couple of days.

The first Cabinet reshuffle under Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conducted on November 9, 2014 in which 21 new ministers, including Suresh Prabhu, Manohar Parrikar among many others, were inducted. In the second rejig of the Cabinet on July 5, 2016, a total of 19 new faces were inducted in the Cabinet by PM Modi.
