
A historic boundary agreement was the highlight between India and Bangladesh during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit across the border. This meeting, the first after BJP-government’s rise to power last year was expected to ease simmering tensions between the two nations, some of which were blown over in recent months with Bangladesh’s substantial migrant labour population on the receiving end of several attacks in recent months. This revolutionary agreement will revisit the Land Boundary Agreement of 1974, which will be amended.

To increase connectivity and contact between the two nations, two buses were flagged off by Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee. Adani Power and Reliance Power, signed memorandums with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). Modi received a red carpet welcome in Bangladesh and the Prime Minister has opened doors for the country with open arms.
