Narendra Modi in Bareilly: PM promises to double farmers’ income by 2022

Narendra Modi urged farmers to take all benefits under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and also urged them to use Soil Health card so that necessary measures can be taken to improve land quality depending on their needs.

Bareilly, February 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday afternoon addressed ‘kissan rally’ at Bareily in Uttar Pradesh where he promised to double the income of farmers by 2022 through Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

PM Modi said, “I wish to double the income of farmers by 2022 when India will celebrate 75 years of its Independence. Farmers today want at least one member of their family to take up job because they know that the family cannot just sustain on agriculture”.

While talking about the multiple steps taken by the BJP government to promote agriculture PM Modi said, “We’ve taken multiple steps to promote scientific methods in agriculture since we came to power.Since our Govt has come to power, we have made efforts to bring in reforms in agriculture through science”. Read Also: (Arun Jaitley faces tough task; has to please both farmers,investors)

While talking about water supply in the Uttar Pradesh’s most populated district, PM Modi said, “Bundelkhand region has 5 rivers but there is scarcity of even drinking water, I feel ashamed of this”.

He said, “Have asked State Govts to use MGNREGA income to develop agriculture, improve water supply in rural areas”.
