Moscow/New Delhi, December 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his two day visit to Russia met President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. On his maiden visit to the country after becoming the Premier of the India, Modi signed multiple agreements with his the old friendly nation, which include the set up of 12 nuclear rectors in India. Putin had also supported India’s bid to United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Addressing a large number of business person and media persons at the same time, Modi and Putin agreed on various issues related with pharma, agriculture, nuclear deal, combat terror, helicopter engineering, technical cooperations in railways, among others. Modi said, “President Putin and I are moving creatively in expanding our economic relations. The pace of our cooperation in nuclear energy is increasing. Modi also spoke on the issue combating terrorism worldwide. He said, “World must unite and combat terror without distinguishing between terror groups and target countries.” Though, he signed MoUs on the other fields including broadcasting technology, geological survey, exploration and production of hydrocarbons onshore and on continental shelf of Russian Federation; the main issue of getting a support from Russian counterpart for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council was addressed. Putin not only extended his support for India in the UNSC, but said that India is a great power carrying out a balanced and responsible foreign policy.
Earlier in the day, Modi while speaking with the businessmen of Russia, invited them to invest in India under the Make in India initiative. The agreements which were signed between the businesspersons of two countries include — investment in high technology, innovation, energy, aircraft building, pharma and diamonds. Mosi also invited Putin for the next BRICS summit scheduled to take place in India. He said, “As I look to the future, I see Russia as a significant partner in India’s economic transformation and in shaping a balanced, multi-polar world.
