New Delhi, Nov 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 26th address of Mann ki Baat today remembered Harivansh Rai Bachchan, father of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on his birth anniversary. In his monthly radio programme, the Prime Minister thanked Amitabh Bachchan for being the face of the “city compost” campaign of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. He also thanked the megastar for supporting this cause and lauded his efforts in appealing all citizens and spreading the message of Clean India. “On the birth anniversary of celebrated poet and writer Harivansh Rai Bachchan, I would like to remind you all how his son and actor Amitabh Bachchan has lent his name to the Swacchta Abhiyan”, Modi said. Modi mentioned that Amitabh wrote a line from Harivansh’s poem that said, ‘Swachh tan, ‘Swachh mann, ‘Swachh Bharat, mera parichay which speaks about the actor’s dedication in spreading the cause. Earlier, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu spoke to the megastar and thanked him for agreeing to be the face of the ministry’s new communication campaign encouraging citizens to use “city compost” produced from municipal solid waste, a release said. Talking on the sudden demonetization move by the government , Modi said this is a huge step and it will take at least 50 days to fight against the ill that had been nourished for the last 70 years. “Everyone has egged me to speak in detail on the Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes. I repeat what I told earlier, it will take 50 days to completely imbibe the change.”
“I had taken the decision (of demonetisation), I had said that it would be full of difficulties. It would take time to overcome problems we have been facing for the last 70 years. It will not be easy”, he further added.
During his radio address to the nation on Sunday, Modi expressed confidence that India would shine like gold after the government’s demonetization move would curb unaccounted wealth in the country. “Just like gold we will emerge glowing from this fire. The main reason behind this confidence is our people,” said the Prime Minister, defending the demonetisation move in his monthly radio broadcast “Mann ki Baat”.
