New Delhi, May 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his mother Heeraben for the first time at his official residence and workplace, 7 Race Course Road (RCR). The nonagenarian spent a day with his son at the Prime Minister’s official accommodation. She has now been escorted back to Gujarat by officials.

Modi shared the images which captured the moments he spent with his 95-year-old mother. Nearly two years after coming to power, this is the first occasion when Modi hosted any of his family members at his Prime Ministerial residence. Expressing joy on her visit, Modi said, “My mother returns to Gujarat. The Prime Minister shares a special bond with his mother, and had not shied away from expressing it on earlier occasions. After winning the 2014 general elections, he rushed to meet his mother and take her blessings before taking over the reigns of the nation. During an interview with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg last year, Modi broke down while recalling the hardships his mother went through during his childhood.
