Hyderabad, Aug 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed disgust over the flogging of Dalits in Una. Interacting with party workers in Hyderabad, Modi turned emotional and demanded the gau rakshaks to stop attacking the members of Dalit community.
In a moving rhetoric, the Prime Minister said, “This violence against the poor and Dalits should stop. If you want to attack, come and attack me. But please don’t attack by Dalit brothers and sisters. Shoot me if you want, but treat my Dalit brothers with respect and dignity. Why is there such discrimination against the poor and Dalits? I want to tell people that discrimination between people is not acceptable. “What right does anyone have to ill-treat our Dalit brothers. I am highly disappointed with this culture of discrimination. This should be removed from our society. We are the people who talk about ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and if we cannot embrace our Dalit brothers and sisters, world will not forgive us,” Modi further added.
Earlier in the day, Modi once again lashed out at the gau rakshaks. While speaking at a public rally in Medak, he said, “The intention of these fake gau rakshaks is to simply divide the country, they have nothing to do with ‘gau raksha’. I appeal to all state governments to prepare a dossier against these so-called cow protectors and launch a crackdown on them. In the name of gau raksha, they are dividing the nation.”
