Baghpat: The Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) has warned the Congress that it will not let party leader and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu enter Baghpat. Condemning the former cricketer, the activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) affiliate have put up posters and hoardings across the district ahead of his proposed visit.
Sidhu is facing wrath from all quarters for attending Pakistan Tehreek-e-Islam (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony as Pakistan Prime Minister on August 18. During his brief visit to the-event, he also hugged Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, who had ordered for beheading of Indian soldiers, which did not go down well with politicos back here.
Deepak Bamnauli, HJM’s Baghpat district vice-president, has said that the HJM cannot tolerate that any leader from our country openly hugs Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa. “We will oppose every leader, regardless of his or her political affiliation, who goes against interests of our country,” he was quoted as saying in a report.
Adding further, Bamnauli said, “We have heard that Sidhu is scheduled to attend a programme in Baghpat, which is why we have put up the warning posters to make it clear that we can go to any extent to show our discomfiture for his act during the oath-taking ceremony of the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.”
