Chandigarh: Nayab Singh Saini will be sworn-in as the chief minister of Haryana Today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP’s top leaders will attend the oath-taking ceremony. On Wednesday, Saini met Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and staked claim to form the next government after he was elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party in a meeting held at the party office in Panchkula.
Tight security arrangements have been made in Haryana’s Panchkula in the wake of swearing-in ceremony. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya will administer the oath of office and secrecy. Several Union ministers including Rajnath Singh and BJP president J P Nadda, will attend at the oath-taking ceremony along with chief ministers of many states, and senior party leaders.
On Tuesday, Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli said that the swearing-in event will take place on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti on October 17, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, chief ministers of the BJP-ruled states, and NDA partners will attend the oath-taking ceremony. The invitation is also sent to the opposition leaders of various parties, “progressive farmers”, ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and people from various social organisations.
The results of Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 were announced on October 5, 2024, where the Bhartiya Janata Party won 48 seats in the 90- member assembly, securing an unprecedented third term in the state. While, the Indian National Congress won 37 seats. With the BJP forming the government for a third time in a row in Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini will take oath as the chief minister for the second time. According to the party leaders, around 50,000 people are expected to attend the mega event. A total of 14 LED screens will be installed at the event venue so that people could witness the function. Traffic advisory has also been issued ahead of the swearing-in event.
Saini had won the Ladwa seat in Kurukshetra district in the assembly polls. The BJP had declared that Saini would remain chief minister if the party returned to power in Haryana after the assembly polls. In March, Saini replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as the chief minister of Haryana. This elevation comes at the time when the party was facing anti-incumbency after the Khattar’s tenure of nine-and-a-half years. The Model Code of Conduct came into force days after Saini was hired by the BJP with the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections and then the assembly elections a few days after Saini was hired by the BJP.
