New Delhi, Sept 22: Controversial Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker Yogi Adityanath slammed the Nepal government for not considering the demands of right-wing Hindu protesters in the Himalayan country.

Adityanath lashed out at the ruling government for adopting a new constitution which intends to convert the Nepal from a Hindu state to a secular, democratic republic. Expressing his anguish over the recent developments in neighboring country, Adityanath said, “Nepal mein loktantra ke naam par loot-tantra ho raha hai” (In the name of democracy, they are looting the masses in Nepal). Nepal adopted its seventh constitution on Sunday, which has thoroughly converted the nation from a system of monarchy to a parliamentary form of democracy. President Ram Baran Yadav termed it as one of the greatest moment in the country’s history.

However, the new constitution is meted out by a huge number of protesters, mainly from the Hindu National Democratic Party who raise concern over the breach of rights of majority with the nation being turned secular. They have also been joined by members of ethnic Madhesi group, who fear that the positive discrimination bestowed to them would cease exist, once the new constitution is implemented.
