New Delhi, Apr 9: News channel IBC 24 anchor Supreet Kaur has been into the news for maintaining her composure on air and continued to read the news for 10 minutes despite learning of her husband’s death while reading the bulletin. Kaur has been praised for her courage and commitment to the job. While anchoring on the 10 am bulletin on Saturday, Kaur broke the news about a road accident at Pithara in Mahasamund district in which three passengers died on the spot and two were severely injured. Kaur announced that the car in the road accident was a Renault Duster and later realised that her husband might have been among the dead as he usually frequents on the route. Kaur for the next 10 minutes continued to anchor and after finishing her telecast, she broke into tears and contacted the reporter to get more information about the accident. Later after she received confirmed news about the accident, she started contacting her relatives to inform about the news. “As she read out the news, she found out that it was the vehicle her husband was to travel in in that region on the same day. Even though the reporter on the ground did not give out names, the team could tell that she had found out. The production team had also just found out, but could not tell her as she was live on television,” a senior IBC 24 editor said to The Indian Express.
The channel editor also praised Kaur for her professionalism and said that “It speaks volumes about her sense of duty and professionalism that she continued and kept her calm for another 10 minutes, Kaur has worked with us for nine years and is one of the most popular anchors in the state.
