New Delhi, Jul 11: At least nine people were killed in a landslide in Manipur’s Tamenglong, news agency ANI reported. According to reports, the landslide occurred in the intermittent period of Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Some houses were also collapsed in the district in the early hours of Wednesday. Last month, the downpour had led to a flood-like situation in several parts of the north-eastern state. Due to heavy rains, roads were blocked and landslides occurred resulting in mass destruction in parts of Manipur. Continuous rainfall had triggered landslides. Heavy rains had also resulted in increased water levels of major rivers in the state. The India Meteorological Department and MeT have predicted “heavy to very heavy” rainfall in Manipur in the coming days.
