New Delhi: After failing to find ways to cash a holiday trip, nine friends allegedly killed an Ayurvedic doctor and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 11 lakh. The doctor identified as Iqbal Qasim was found dead at his house in Northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area, police said Monday. Of those accused in the murder case, Rizwan alias Rizu, Vishal Rawat alias Bunty, Sandhya Rawat, Raju Rawat, Afroz were residents of Bhalswa Dairy, while Rizwan alias Nasty, Ammar, Riyasat and the juvenile belonged to Jahangirpuri, added the police. The nine friends had planned a month-long trip to Shimla and Kashmir. When their families refused to fund them, they decided to kill the elderly man. Two of the friends already knew the doctor. For almost a week, the friends rehearsed ways to kill the doctor. Finally, one day, when the doctor’s daughter, a teacher, had gone to school, the friends broke into the doctor’s house and executed the murder plan. According to a report by Times of India, there were no injury marks on the doctor’s body. However, a dagger was found near him.



Before the nine friends could embark on their much-awaited trip, police were able to nab Vishal Rawat. Based on the information gathered from the accused, the other eight were arrested. Police said that cash amounting to Rs 5,50,000 and 70 per cent of the jewellery stolen from the doctor’s house were recovered.

Ammar and the juvenile had played the role of informers, while Nasty, Rijju and Vishal neatly executed the robbery-cum-killing at the doctor’s residence, said DCP (northwest), Aslam Khan. The incident took place on November 12.
