New Delhi, May 17: The youngest daughter of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh, the head of Nirankari sect who died in a car accident in Canada’s Montreal, is likely to succeed him. The announcement of Sudeeksha’s anointment as the next Nirankari chief is expected after the last rites of Baba Hardev Singh is performed on Wednesday at Delhi’s Nigam Bodh Ghat, a news organisation reported.Also Read - Preacher leading congregation among 3 killed in Amritsar grenade attack

Sudeeksha, a widow of Avneet Setya, who died along with Baba Hardev Singh in a car crash, is the youngest of three daughters of the spiritual head. If appointed, Sudeeksha will be the first female to head the sect which was founded in 1929 and has more than 1 crore followers in and across India. The mortal remains of Baba Hardev Singh is lying in Delhi at the Samagam Ground no 8 near Sant Nirankari Colony, north Delhi. Home Miinister Rajnath Singh today visited the Samagam Ground to pay his last respect to Baba Hardev Singh. According to reports, a 21-member committee of Sant Nirankari Mission had been discussing the succession plan and were waiting for a final decision from Savinder Kaur, the widow of Baba Hardev Singh.

Sudeeksha, completed her education at Mater Dei School, Delhi and has two sisters – Samta and Renuka. She tied knot last year with Avneet Setya. Baba Hardev Singh was travelling from New York to Canada on Friday on an ill-fated vehicle, when his met an accident.
