New Delhi, Dec 22: Parents of Nirbhaya, 2012 gang-rape victim, Badri Singh Pandey and Asha Devi met Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi at his residence in Delhi on Tuesday. They said that they been assured that the Juvenile Justice Bill will be passed in Rajya Sabha today. Naqvi said that all parties of the view that the Bill be passed in the Parliament. He said, “We have held discussions with all. All parties are of the view that juvenile justice bill should be passed: MA Naqvi.”
On Monday, they met Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, seeking the passage of the Juvenile Justice Bill which will allow children between 16-18 years to be tried as adults in heinous crime cases. Supreme Court released the juvenile convict in Sunday and sent him to an NGO. The apex court rejected Delhi Women Commission’s plea against his release. The court rejected it saying that there was no law to withhold the juvenile’s release.
