New Delhi, May 11: National Institute for Transforming India, also known as NITI Aayog will work with the Uttar Pradesh government to chalk out various plans for the development of the state. This was confirmed after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath met with a delegation of the NITI Aayog led by vice-chairman Arvind Panagariya and CEO Amitabh Kant and discussed the various perspectives that the two bodies must follow. In the meeting held at Lucknow, the decision was taken that NITI Aayog and UP government will partner to map development plans for the state.
NITI Aayog on Thursday announced that this partnership will ensure holistic development for the state, with emphasised focus on doubling the income of the farmers and improving their livelihood opportunities and enterprise among other issues. In a report, it was also claimed that if this experiment is deemed successful, it will be implemented on other states as well.
As per reports, this will be a six-member working team, with three members from the Aayog and three from the UP government. This team will discuss and decide a strategy to take the development index of the state forward. As of now it has been decided that Ramesh Chandra, CEO Amitabh Kant and advisor Alok Kumar will be on the team from the side of NITI and state minister of health Siddharthnath Singh, Principal Secretary and Chief Secretary of planning will represent the UP government.
CM Adityanath also announced that the teams will identify focus areas and all the departments will work on these areas and will have to present a report in 15 days.
Reports claim that the bigger advantage in this partnership with NITI is the fact that both the Aayog and the state government will work as partners and will work based on cooperation, unlike with Planning Commission, which had an upper hand in these matter compared to the states.
