Samastipur (Bihar), Sept 26: Setting the tone of development as a core agenda for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed the first election rally on behalf of the Mahagathbandhan at Samastipur district of Bihar on Saturday. This was the first election rally of Nitish Kumar, just after the last withdrawal date of nominations from the candidature before the elections.
In the 30 minute long speech, Nitish made his poll promises and also at the same time blamed the BJP-led central government for presenting a bad view of the state. Announcing his election agenda for the polls, he said that if voted back to power, his party will ensure that by 2016 every house will have electricity, every student will get a education credit card — with a balance credit of Rs 4 lakh, and every unemployed youth will receive financial help from the government a period of two years. In a attempt to attract women voters, Nitish boosted the fact the Bihar was the first government to announce 50 per cent reservation for women in panchayat elections. He also said that if voted to power, he will ensure women get 35 per cent reservation in the government jobs. He said, “Bihar pehla rajya tha jisne panchayat chunawo me 50 pratishat seats mahilaon ki liye aarakshit kiya. Agar hum fir se humari sarkar bani, to hum wayda karte hai ki 35 pratishat aarakshan mahilaon ko sarkari jobs me denge.”
Accusing the Narendra Modi government, Nistish said that people are not satisfied with their way of functioning. He said that BJP did not fulfill their poll promises of bringing the black money, employment to youth and 50 per cent MSP to farmers. He said, “Is sarkar me yuwaon ko thaga gaya hai. Ulta rogjaar badhane ki jagah, sarkari naukariyan kam kar di gayi hai. 50 pratishat MSP ka wayda kiya gaya tha par ab tak ye lagu nai hua hai.” (Also Read: Bihar elections: LJP rebel MP Rama Singh to campaign against NDA; could switch to Nitish Kumar camp)
He further added that in their own party their is no unity on seats distribution, as candidates are fighting within themselves. He alleged that the saffron party is doing is “Hawabaazi”. He said, “BJP me ekta nahi hai. kaun kis seat par ladega, iska faisla karne me bhari fazihat ho rahi hai. Wo sirf hawabaazi kiye ja rahe hai.”
Often ranked among the last for it drinking water situation, Nitish claimed that within a span of five years, he will ensure that every household gets tap water. He also said that he has a plan to open five new medical colleges in Bihar, along with engineering colleges, ITI institutes, ANM centres and graduation colleges.
At the end of his speech, he took a jibe at the BJP, saying the central government is trying to play with data and they are expert in it. He said, “Out of Rs 1.25 lakh crore package, Rs 1.10 lakh crore package is from the previous schemes. The last day of withdrawal of nomination ended today for the first phase of election, scheduled on October 12. As per the lasted report, the Chief Election Commissioner, Dr. Nasim Zaidi, along with other official will visit Patna to take a stock of the preparations fro the polls.
