New Delhi, July 20: Leading the Congress charge of the debate on the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi-led government, party president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that he felt a deep sense of pain and anxiety in TDP MP Jayadev Galla’s speech. “You (TDP) are the victim of a 21st-century political weapon and you are not the only one. The political weapon is called the ‘jumla strike’. The kisan (farmers), Dalits, tribals, youths and women are also victims of this weapon, Gandhi said while attacking the Centre in Lok Sabha today. “The symptoms of the jumla strike include – First there is a great sense of excitement and happiness. After that there is shock and then followed by regret,” the Congress president stated. Intensifying his attack on the government, Gandhi further stated that PM Modi asked youth to sell pakoras to transcend employment. “Jahan jaate hain wahan rozgaar ki baat karte hain. Kabhi kehte hain pakode banao, kabhi dukaan kholo. Rozgaar small and medium businesses laayenge. PM ne demonetisation kiya, shayad samajh nahi thi ki kisan, majdoor, garib apna dhanha cash me chalate hain,” Rahul hit out at PM Modi. The Congress president also accused the Prime Minister of robbing people who earned money with medium and small businesses. “He (PM Modi) only talks to suit boot wale bade businessmen. You robbed them who earned money with medium and small businesses. It’s a reality that you can’t change. You go and help bigwigs, but when it comes to poor, you fail to do anything,” Rahul claimed.

Calling him (PM) a ‘Bhaagidaar’, Rahul claimed that ‘Pradhanmantri apni aankh meri aankh mein nahi daal sakte (He cannot look into my eyes),  I can see that because the Prime Minister has not been truthful. I can see him smiling. But there’s a touch of nervousness in the gentleman and he is looking away from me. I can understand that.”

He also hit out at government over its Demonetisation policy and Goods and Services Tax reforms saying,”At 8 pm the PM decided to act against black money and announced demonetisation. When I was in Surat, farmers, labourers, small traders told me, demonetisation imposed by PM Modi affected them the most. You did not stop with demonetisation and came up with GST.  Congress wanted a single rate of GST. But you came up with multiple rates, you raided small traders and made life hell for them.”

Attacking the Centre over the Rafale Deal, Rahul in Lok Sabha said,”Government claimed that there is secrecy pact with France on Rafale deal. I personally met PM of France and asked him if any such pact existed, he clearly said there is no pact.”

Taking to Twitter, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala presented a proof to support Rahul Gandhi’s stance. Along with the picture, he said,”Proof-Rafale sold same 48 Rafale aircrafts to Egypt and Qatar in 2015 for a mere Euro 7.9 Billion. i.e. 1319.80 Cr per aircraft. Then, why did India pay 1670.70 Cr per Rafale aircraft, purchase of which was announced by PM on 10th April, 2015?”

Referring to 73-day-long Doklam Standoff, Rahul accused PM Modi of cheating Indian Soldiers. He said, “After PM of India’s rendezvoused with Chinese President and was swinging with him in Gujarat, Xi sent its troops in Doklam. Our soldiers defended our country. After a few days, PM went to China for an agenda-less meeting and stated Doklam won’t be discussed. The truth is he went there with China’s agenda.”

Speaking about recent Thomson Reuters Survey 2018, wherein India topped the list of most dangerous country for women, the Congress president said,”For the first time in history, India’s reputation is the worst in the world and this is because the Modi govt is unable to protect women. They have been killed and exploited but our Prime Minister has not spoken a single word about it.”

He also attacked PM over the recent lynchings saying,”There are attacks on Dalits and minorities and Adivasis. But Prime Minister never says anything. His minister goes and garlands attackers. When these attacks happen the PM should address the nation and tell us what is in his heart.”

“It is PM’s duty to condemn atrocities, but he doesn’t. Whenever an oppressed is attacked, it is an attack on Dr. Ambedkar, Constitution, People of India and this house,” Rahul said in Lok Sabha.

After finishing his speech, Rahul went up to PM Modi and hugged him. He said,”Aap logon ke andar mere liye nafrat hai, aap mujhe Pappu aur bohot gaaliyan dekar bula sakte hain, lekin mere andar aapke liye nafrat nahi hai. (You hate me, you can call me Pappu and abuse me but, I don’t hate you).”

“PM Modi, BJP and RSS have taught me what it means to be a Congress person, the meaning of being a real Indian, and what it means to be a real Hindu. For this, I thank them,” the Congress president said.

However, the act was slammed by the Lok Sabha members and they attacked the Congress president for acting like Munna Bhai and giving “pappi jhappi”.
