New Delhi: In a big update amid India preparing to test launch the Agni-5 missile long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), Islamabad-based think tank Strategic Vision Institute (SVI) has warned the Shahbaz Sharif government and Army Chief Asim Munir about the missile of India which can destroy the whole of Pakistan. Here are all the details you need to know about Agni-5 missile long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) of India.

How big is India’s development?

“India’s missile development has accelerated after becoming a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in 2016. This has given it easy access to advanced technologies and equipment. India has also acquired drones from the US and Israel. These were used during the conflict with Pakistan in May”, Islamabad-based think tank Strategic Vision Institute (SVI) said while warning the Shahbaz Sharif government and Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir about India’s Agni-5 missile.

Why did India test Agni-5 missile with MIRV technology?

In a significant development for India’s internal security, India successfully carried out the first flight test of indigenously developed Agni-5 missile. Capable of deploying multiple warheads, under its ‘Mission Divyastra’, Agni-5 missile was tested with ‘multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle (MIRV)’ tested from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha.

Notably, there are only 5 countries that have missiles with MIRV capabilities namely the US, Russia, the UK, China and France and with the Agni-5 missile MIRV test, India also joined the group of countries.

What’s the range of Agni 1 to 4 missiles of India?

Readers should note that the already deployed Agni 1 to 4 missiles of India have ranges from 700 km to 3,500 km. With the Agni-V missile that has a range of up to 5,000 km, almost the entire Asia including the northernmost part of China as well as some regions in Europe under India’s striking range.
