Jio users across India experienced a widespread network outage on September 17, 2024, leading to a surge in complaints on social media platforms. The issue was tracked by the website Down Detector, which showed a significant increase in reports of network problems. According to Downdetector, the majority of the complaints (68%) were related to “No Signal”, while 18% of users reported issues with mobile internet, and 14% had problems related to JioFiber services.
By 12:18 PM, 10,367 reports had been registered, a sharp rise from just 653 reports at 11:13 AM and only 7 reports at 10:13 AM.
The outage has affected access to popular applications such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and Google, leading to a surge in complaints from users who depend on these platforms for daily activities.
The exact cause of this widespread disruption remains unknown at this time. Jio is yet to issue an official statement regarding the disruption.
