Indian Railways Update: A major update in the Indian Railways reservation system is underway, and due to this, the Railway Reservation System (PRS) will be shut down for two hours in Delhi on November 2. This shutdown will occur between November 1 midnight (12:05 am) and 2:05 am on November 2. During this timeframe, the Railways will replace the old core switch with a new core switch. The shutdown will affect several important services on the Delhi PRS, including PRS enquiries, current reservations, internet booking, ticket cancellation, charting, EDR, the PRIMES application, and NTES services at Northern Railway counters.
The Railways has stated that it is a temporary inconvenience and once the technical change is complete, all services affected by it will resume. Passengers are requested to avoid using these services during the shutdown period.
It is to be noted that the downtime is a part of the modernisation process. These time-to-time upgrades help the Indian Railways to boost its processing speed and reliability.
The shutdown will occur due to mandatory technical work. During this period, the technical team of the Indian Railways will replace the old core switches with new core switches. This change will be carried out between midnight on 01/11/2025 and 02/11/2025.
Railways has requested passengers to complete their travel and booking-related work before or after this period.
