Noida, August 7: Traffic movement remained affected at various spots in Noida on Monday evening due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. Most of the roads faced heavy traffic jam including Film City road near DND Flyway loop. The badly affected routes were DND to Rajnigandha crossing and Noida entry gate to Film City. The traffic movement was also affected in sector 71 and sector 60.
Residents of Noida were agitated to see underground drains overflowing. As per a Times of India report, sewage water had entered some apartments. In some areas, the water was knee deep, which even included streets of Film City. Cops in the evening managed to pull out a car in Mahamaya underpass that was submerged in the water earlier today.
Layak Singh, the Traffic inspector, was quoted by TOI saying traffic jam was witnessed on roads due to water logging. ” For nearly two hours water logging stalled the traffic and to take care of the situation traffic policemen were deployed,” stated Layak. He further stated that Noida-Greater Noida Expressway near DND Loop was severely affected as it is a low lying area.
To apprise the cops and Noida Authority about the horrible situation on roads, the residents took to social media urging them to solve the issue. Waterlogging was also seen in societies. Amit Gupta who resides in Sector 77 stated that administration should make a proper drainage system to make sure water does not overflow. As per Aman, this happens every year and a proper channel of water flowing from societies to drains is not there.
