Noida (UP): A 25-year-old worker was killed after being sucked into a machine in a plastic factory here, said reports on Thursday. The incident was reported on Wednesday at a factory in the Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ), under Phase 2 police station limits, they said. “Wajid reached for work in the morning in the factory which makes plastic products. He was cleaning a big-sized machine that has blades in it. While he was cleaning, someone switched on the machine and soon Wajid was sucked inside,” a police official said.
“By the time some of his colleagues realised and switched off the machine, he was dead,” the official added. The police were alerted about the incident and they reached the spot, even as the family of the victim reached the factory. Wajid and his family hailed from Chhapra district in Bihar but were settled here, police said.
The body was taken out of the machine and sent for post-mortem, the official said. A case has been registered and two persons booked for murder on a complaint by Wajid’s brother, police said. The entire accident was caught in CCTV footage and a probe was underway, police said.
Meanwhile, in a building collapse in Delhi’s Ashok Nagar, the death toll rose to six. Two women along with four children lost their lives after a three-storey building collapsed. Following the collapse, the rescue team was pressed into action to clear the rubble. The building, near Sawan Park of Ashoke Vihar 3, was majorly occupied by tenants and was not in good condition. Eyewitnesses say it had developed some cracks. Following the incident, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered a magisterial probe. He visited Deepchand Bandhu Hospital to the meet the victims and said the AAP government will give compensation to the next of kin of the deceased and the seven injured persons. “I have ordered magisterial probe in the matter. The Delhi government will also give compensation to the kin of deceased and injured,” he told reporters here.
