Bhubaneswar, June 5: One Special Operations Group jawan was martyred while 10 were injured in a Maoist ambush in Odisha on Sunday night. Maoists carried out an attack in a forest near Khamankhol under Baliguda sub-division in Kandhamal district of Odisha. Reports say that the jawans were attacked by the Maoists while returning from a combing operations.
The martyred jawan has been identified as Laxmikant Jani of Kalahandi. While the injured jawans have been taken to Baliguda hospital, those critically injured have been shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Reports say there was exchange of fire between the Maoists and the jawans, following which several jawans were injured. The search operations are on in the area, say reports.
