New Delhi, April 1: A 17-day-old baby was found dead in a well near Talabasta village in eastern Odisha state on Sunday. He was stolen by a monkey on Saturday.
As per Hindustan Times report, the infant was sleeping next to his mother on Saturday morning when a monkey came and took him away. The mother suddenly woke up and saw monkey fleeing with the baby.
She started screaming for help. On hearing her shout, villagers gathered and reported forest authorities about the incident. The forest authorities and fire tenders were pressed into service to trace the baby. A massive operation was launched to find the baby. But as the baby was facing difficulty in crying since he was born, authorities also had difficulty in tracing him.
Forest department official said that 30-member team was formed to find the baby in the forest but we couldn’t find him. Seeing the body of their child, the couple was very sad and was crying. He was couple’s first child.

Resident in the village have earlier also reported menace created by the monkeys. It has also attacked some women and injured them. Forest department has adopted many steps to keep monkeys away but all in vain.
