Bhubaneshwar, Nov 3: A 32-year-old man, who runs a mobile phone showroom near Pipili toll plaza in Bhubaneshwar district of Odisha, was arrested by Chandrasekharpur police on Thursday as it turned out that all the phones in his shop were stolen ones -either by him or his acquaintances.

The accused, Swain, is a resident of the Suabarei area of Pipili in Puri district and the police reached Swain’s shop, which displays over 42 stolen phones worth over Rs 7 lakh, while investigating a mobile theft case. Reportedly, Swain confessed to snatching the phone on October 15.

The police have seized two stolen iPhones, with a market price of Rs 45,000, from his shop. He had set the price of these at Rs 35,000. In the past, Swain has sold stolen phones worth Rs 5 lakh.

Police, who have been trying to find out the names of his acquaintances who have been stealing mobile phones, are now trying to identify the owners of the recovered stolen phones.
