Bhubaneswar: Sudarshan Pattnaik, the renowned sand artist was admitted to hospital on Sunday evening after he suffered an injury at the venue of ongoing International Sand Art Festival. Pattnaik was injured after an unidentified youth tried to snatch his wrist watch at the Art Festival in Puri district of Odisha.Also Read - IRCTC Latest News: Railways Extends Route of 2 Trains to Bhubaneswar, Puri | Details Here

Talking to leading daily Times of India, Pattnaik narrated his ordeal and said,”The youth caught hold of my arm during a handshake and tried to snatch my wrist watch. Pattnaik is the brand ambassador of the five-day long International Sand Art Festival, organised  by Odisha government’s tourism department near the famous Sun Temple in Konark.

The International Sand Art Festival has 35 stalls with reputed international and national artistes. Women sand artistes and differently-abled sand artistes are also participating in the festival, coordinated by Patnaik. Odisha tourism has been organising this festival for last four years.
