Odisha, June 24: A woman named Mayuri Singh from Odisha’s tribal-dominated district of Mayurbhanj reportedly, buried her child just after its birth in a cow dung pit, Hindustan Times reported. According to the report, she buried her child in the dung pit on Wednesday. Later, the foul smell emerging from the pit caught the attention of the people living nearby. They informed the police on Friday evening. Also Read - Odisha Reports Highest Single-day Spike With 129 COVID-19 Cases



The woman has claimed that her kid was stillborn. However, locals have alleged that the woman killed the baby on purpose. They said that the woman hid the baby inside a container after the delivery. Later, while everybody was asleep, she took the baby and buried it in the cow dung. The woman’s husband was informed about the incident by his in-laws. Meanwhile, the police have sent the body for an autopsy.



Recently, a father allegedly crushed his toddler to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district on Friday. The man apparently lost his temper after a quarrel with his wife and squeezed the kid to death. Arshad, the accused in the incident, had a fight with his wife over something, following which he crushed his kid, Arhan, under his feet. The one-year-old died on the spot. The police have arrested the accused.

“Arshad had a tiff with his wife, Akila, over some domestic issue after which he crushed his one-year-old son Arhan under his feet, killing him on the spot. The accused was arrested,” the police told PTI.
