New Delhi, Jan 20: A day after Election Commission recommended disqualification of 20 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, sidelined AAP leader Kumar Vishwas took a jibe at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and said that he had given certain suggestions earlier but he was told it’s the CM’s prerogative to appoint people.
Terming the disqualification of 20 of its MLAs for holding the office of profit ‘unfortunate’ and ‘sad’, Vishwas said,”It’s very unfortunate and sad that the Election Commission has recommended 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs be disqualified from the Delhi Assembly for holding offices of profit. I had given certain suggestions earlier but I was told it’s the CM’s prerogative to appoint people so I kept quiet.”(Also Read: AAP Slams EC, Moves HC Against Its Recommendation to Disqualify 20 Delhi MLAs)
While talking to reporters, Vishwas also said that he has been removed from various WhatsApp groups of the party.
Earlier on Friday, the Election Commission recommended disqualification of 20 party MLAs for holding “office of profit”. According to the reports, the recommendations were also sent to President Ram Nath Kovind for his assent.
If the president gives his assent, the disqualification of the legislators would pave the way for bye-elections in Delhi.
