New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday accompanied her husband Robert Vadra to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office – where he was summoned for questioning in relation to a money laundering case.

However, her choice to escort her husband to the ED office grabbed the eyeballs in the political arena as it came on a day when she took official charge as the General Secretary (Congress) for Uttar Pradesh East.

Arriving at the ED office located in central Delhi’s Jamnagar House, both Priyanka and Robert Vadra hugged each other before she dropped him off and headed to her mother Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath.

Speaking to reporters outside her office at Congress headquarters on Akbar road, Priyanka Gandhi said, “The world knows what is happening… He is my husband, he is my family, I will stand by him.”

On a day of her official entry into active politics, Priyanka’s veiled attack on the BJP shows her intent of handling the party’s campaign in Uttar Pradesh, where it has decided to go it alone for the Lok Sabha polls after being elbowed out by SP-BSP bonhomie.

The Congress party has long called this probe against Robert Vadra, a political witch-hunt, orchestrated to weigh down the party’s morale.

The BJP has been attacking Vadra, Priyanka and the Congress over the cases allegedly involving him and is set to step up the attack during the coming elections, now that she has also secured a political position.

According to an IANS report, when she arrived at her office, several Congress workers shouted slogans hailing her. “Priyanka you fight on, we are with you!”

Robert Vadra is facing allegations of money laundering in the purchase of a London-based property located at 12, Bryanston Square worth 1.9 million pounds.
