Raiganj: One person was killed and 10 others were injured during a clash between two groups in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur district earlier in the day on Saturday, stated the police officers. The two groups became violent in a matter of time as they began attacking each other with stones and bricks. The violent attack claimed the life of one person injured 10 others, stated the police. The injured persons were reportedly rushed to Islampur hospital. Moreover, the police have arrested six persons involved in the clash. Due to the clash in the Panditpotta village, the panchayat election of the Pradhan has been postponed, stated a district official. The state has witnessed several clashes during the past elections. During the month of May when the West Bengal 2018 Panchayat elections were in full swing, 12 people were reported to be dead in a clash.

Surajit Kar Purkayastha, DGP of West Bengal reportedly said, “12 people died, the identity of 6 more yet to be ascertained. 3 police personnel also injured. Last year 25 people were killed in the election. Security has been taken care of. We hope the rest of the election will pass peacefully.”
