Lucknow, April 21: Standing in Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareilly on Saturday, BJP national president Amit Shah went for the jugular by saying that Rae Bareli’s condition belied the fact that some Congress stalwarts had got elected from there. In contrast, he said, BJP would take Rae Bareli on development path if people voted the party in. Speaking at the BJP’s Parivartan Sankalp Rally, he said the Congress had tried to malign Hindus by coining the phrase “saffron terrorism”.

Highlights

  • Yogi has brought overall development to the state.
  • Rae Bareli needs a revamp that only BJP can bring.

Shah started out by reminding the public how the BJP was ruling in 20 states of the country. He said it was the party that put an end to dynastic rule. A Focusing on the overall development of Uttar Pradesh, Shah said the state had come back on track ever since Yogi Adityanath took over the reins. He said the state was reeling under misrule for years till the BJP came to power. Now, the law and order situation had improved drastically, youth were getting jobs, women felt secure and in a year’s time, the state of Uttar Pradesh had changed. He said, “The electorate never gave so many seats to any party as it did to the BJP in UP…Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will not rest till he has made the state the best state in the country.”

Shah welcomed Congress turncoat MLC Dinesh Singh and his brother Rakesh Singh, an MLA, popularly known as the ‘Panchvati Pariwar’ in Rae Bareli, and said they would be suitably accommodated in the party. Dinesh Singh had left the Congress a few days ago after making serious allegations against the ‘Gandhi Parivar’. He had shown keenness in contesting the 2019 Assembly elections from Rae Bareli against Sonia Gandhi. He also claimed that the entire Congress leadership of Rae Bareli would leave the party with him.

Yogi Adityanath said the Supreme Court had given its verdict in the Judge BH Loya death case and so Congress president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the nation for raking up a non-issue.
