Chittorgarh, Jan 26: Shri Rajput Karni Sena on Thursday threatened that it will make a film based on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mother, which will be titled “Leela ki Leela.” The fringe group, which is protesting against the release of Bhansali’s movie ‘Padmaavat’, has even decided the script writer and the director for the project.
District president of the Karni Sena, Chittorgarh, Govind Singh Khangarot said that the film will be directed by Arvind Vyas and script-writing for the movie has begun. The movie will be shot in Rajasthan.
”Bhansali has insulted our mother Padmavati, but we will ensure that he feels proud of the movie we will make,” IANS quoted the leader.
“As our country gives the right to expression to everyone, we will ensure that this right is used to its fullest,” he added.
In the next 15 days, a “muhurat” marking the commencement of the film would be performed and it would be released in a year’s time, Khangarot said.
Violent protests were organised by the Karni Sena against the release of the film, claiming that the movie distorted history and was an insult to the memory of queen Padmavati. The movie was first titled Padmavati, but it changed its name to Padmaavat. It was released on January to rave critical reviews and packed cinema halls.
Padmaavat was first banned by BJP-ruled states like Rajasthan and Haryana, however, the Supreme Court lifted the ban against the movie.
The national secretary of the Shree Karni Sena, Suraj Pal Amu, was on Friday arrested by the Gurgaon police for the anti-Padmaavat violence, a police official said.
The outfit’s leader was detained on Thursday for questioning and placed under arrest on Friday morning on charges of breaching peace in the city. He has been sent to a four-day judicial custody, Gurgaon Police Public Relations Officer Ravinder Kumar said.
